Inspired by the legend of Dragon's Gate, the tale tells of a glimmering school of koi swimming upstream. When they reach a waterfall, many of the koi turned back and let the current carry them away. The remaining few refused to give up and leaping from the depths of the river, tried to reach the top of the falls. After a hundred years of jumping, one koi finally reached the top of the waterfall. The gods recognized the koi for its perseverance and determination by turning it into a dragon, the image of power and strength.
